Andrea Vettoretti and the Association Musikrooms propose a collaboration with all WAMU-NET members to co-design the sound of the music project “The Breath of Water,” which is currently being recorded and will be released by December 2025.
The album is dedicated to water and sustainability and will feature the classical guitar of Andrea Vettoretti accompanied by real water sounds from around the world.
As you know, this year Andrea has been designated music ambassador of WAMU-NET on the occasion of the World Water Day:

To foster the connection between Andrea and all our members, we invite you to send any kind of water-related sounds, which will be integrated into both the new album and another special water-related music project that will give voice to the WAMU-NET Network.
What we kindly ask from all members is:
1. Send all kind of sounds related to water, such as:
- Rivers, springs, waterfalls, waves, rain, droplets, fountains, oars into the water, etc.;
- Any sound where water is the main element or protagonist;
2. Accepted formats:
- Audio: .wav, .mp3, .aiff;
- Video: video files are also accepted — we will extract the audio ourselves;
3. Minimum duration: 10 seconds (longer files are also welcome);
4. Recording tools:
- A good quality recording with a modern smartphone is acceptable;
5. Please include the following information in the email:
- Name of the museum;
- Location;
- Brief description of the sound and its origin (e.g., “Rain over the X River”);
- (Optional): You may also include a short vertical video, recorded with a smartphone, in which the museum explains the recorded track and its connection to any local sustainability project. These materials might be shared through our communication channels to promote your work;
6. Deadline for submissions: August 30, 2025;
7. Email address for sending files and requests(to Elisa): festival@musikrooms.com
Project goals:
- your sounds (and names) will be integrated in the new album “The Breath of Water,” for classical guitar and water sounds, of the music composer Andrea Vettoretti;
- they will also be featured in international concerts by the artist, creating an immersive and poetic experience;
- in addition, the sounds will be collected in a second special album titled “The Breath of Water – Special Edition,” a long track where water sounds from the members of WAMU-NET will will be embedded in a fluid narrative — a global connection among cultures, waters, and sounds;
- in all tracks and uses, each contributor and institution will be properly credited, with full references for copyright and origin;
- all submitted materials will not be used for any other purposes than those described above, and will never be shared with third parties.
A heartfelt thank you
This music project will create a powerful expression of the collective value of the members of WAMU-NET through an album which blends art, cultural identity, sustainability, and the memory of places shaped by water.
We are confident this collaboration will result in a universal sound narrative, where each museum, institution and individual represent a vital drop in a greater river that flows beyond borders.
