Back to Our Future - Arid Lands and Ancient Hydro-Technologies is a short film competition hosted by Let’s Talk About Water and the Global Network of Water Museums.
The film prize is aimed at filmmakers, artists, scientists or storytellers who wish to present their vision of how ancient knowledge about water can inspire today's climate and water solutions.
Below are all the specific details for joining the water film prize:
1_ Theme: we invite short films exploring ancient water culture and systems - such as aqueducts, qanats, stepwells, and fog catchers - to show how traditional knowledge can address today's global challenges;
2_ Format: submit a 3–5 minute short film including fiction, documentary, animation, or experimental.

- deadline to submit: 15 September 2025;
- $10,000 in prizes;
- winners announced on November 5th, 2025, at the International Conference of the Global Network of Water Museums meeting in Brasilia, Brazil.
