WAMU-NET is pleased to announce the opening of the travelling exhibition SOIL ART TALES. Living Ecosystems for Shared Futures in Porto (Portugal) at the Serralves Foundation, from 11 February to 26 April 2026.
Soil Art Tales features the work of Binta Diaw (IT/SN), Nikki Lindt (NL/US), Jo Pearl (UK), Miguel Teodoro (PT) and explores the deep connections between soil, water and life.
Four artists from different generations come together to articulate a collective vision of soil as a living archive of memory, knowledge and ecological processes that are fundamental in shaping a sustainable future.
Through different artistic languages – including installation, video, photography and research-based practices – the exhibition invites visitors to reflect on soil as a vital and fragile resource closely linked to water and deeply connected to climate change, food systems, and heritage.
The exhibition is organised by the Global Network of Water Museums (WAMU+NET) and curated by Stefano Cagol, in cooperation with Marta Tavares (Serralves Foundation) for the event in Porto.
Developed within the framework of the Horizon Europe project SoilTribes – Glocal Ecosystems Restoring Soil Values, Roles and Connectivity, the exhibition is presented at Serralves and will then travel to Rome, Italy, at Villa Altieri, for its second stop organised in cooperation with Città Metropolitana di Roma.
