“Parque Patrimonial das Águas” is a Water Museum/Historical Archive of the Territory that is distributed throughout the city of Porto, conglomerating the facilities and networks of heritage value related to the sector and the water cycle. As a showcase of built and unbuilt and green spaces, it has as an extensive archival and museological collection in the custody of Águas e Energia do Porto.
Considering the intrinsic value of a heritage park with the characteristics of this, we can say that it is now a space of science and leisure.
As heritage caretakers, we are aware of our central role in stimulating creativity, in generating opportunities for the creative and cultural industries, and for entertainment.
"Parque Patrimonial das Águas" is supported by a multipolar system distributed throughout the territory of Porto and the Great Porto (municipal and inter-municipal, therefore) with its central nucleus at Quinta de Vilar das Oliveiras - where the water supply enterprise's headquarters are located.
This water heritage facilities contributes to the material and immaterial well-being and self-environmental conscious of its users, both at the level of leisure and achievement of new sources of knowledge.
This is a heritage park that is not limited to a museum or archive, collections, or funds - its heritage set combines the documentary with the objectual, the analog with the digital, the "built" with the natural park, the centenary archaeological site with the contemporary technical and technological structure.
With the mission of internationalization, according to dissemination strategies and considering access as a main goal, we can affirm that, in its guidelines, concept, strategy, plan, program and actions, in addition to safeguarding, dissemination and preservation, it aims to provide historical information and scientific and technical interpretation.

Temporary Exhibitions
Porto: the water city – 1933/1953
Between 2016 and 2022, a set of 35 and 16 mm films related to the documentation of the consolidation of the water supply system to the city of Porto between 1933 and 1953 were restored and digitized. The Parque Patrimonial das Águas through the action of its historical archive, proceeded to compile the complementary information to the realization of these two short films, presenting to the public an unprecedented set, useful for understanding the image of the city in the twentieth century.
