We are delighted to invite you to 'Cities of Water – Peace and Prosperity through Water Sustainability Education', the 5th International Conference of the Global Network of Water Museums, scheduled to take place from 9 to 11 October 2024 in Porto, Portugal.
This year, the WAMU-NET conference is hosted and co-organised by the Parque Patrimonial das Aguas, Porto (member of the Global Network of Water Museums), in cooperation with the Autonomous Province of Trento(Italy), the UNESCO Chair ‘Water, Ports and Historic Cities’ at TU Delft (Netherlands) and other partners. 'Cities of Water' aims to address the historical and contemporary challenges of sustainable urban water management with a view to promoting our unique water heritage in urban environments. Captivating presentations will be combined with roundtable discussions, interactive sessions, networking activities and WAMU-NET’s General Assembly in order to stimulate new ideas and proposals for water heritage promotion and resilience. The conference also offers a unique opportunity to engage with the rich water heritage of the city of Porto. The preliminary programme is available here.
While the final conference programme will be shared in May, we are excited to confirm the conference dates. Kindly mark your calendars and make plans to join us in Porto. To facilitate your stay, our Organising Team in Porto has curated a list of potential accommodations in the Aliado (Porto City Centre), close to the conference venue.
