Water Ambassadors
Building Peace and Coexistence through Water

The program’s journey began on World Water Day 2025, coinciding with the opening of the new WAMU+NET offive in Ala (Trento), Italy.
On this occasion, the title of first Water Ambassador was conferred upon the renowned guitarist and music composer Andrea Vettoretti, founder of the New Classical World. As a WAMU+NET Ambassador, Andrea Vettoretti is committed to carrying our goals to international audiences through concerts and performances worldwide.

Water is not a commodity; it is the essence of life.
WAMU+NET’s Water Ambassadors ensure its story is heard by everyone, everywhere.

Protecting Our Home, Not Chasing Illusions

The Water Ambassadors program stands on a clear ethical principle: we must focus our efforts on the water we have here on Earth. It is futile to fuel illusory hopes of finding water in other corners of the universe … if this becomes an excuse to continue polluting, wasting, or over-exploiting our precious liquid resources on this Planet. Every form of life—human and non-human—depends on the health of our rivers and aquifers.

Our priority is to protect the liquid heart of our own Planet, here and now.

Amplifying the Message of Water

Launched in 2025, the Water Ambassadors program was established to amplify the voice of the Global Network of Water Museums (WAMU+NET) and its members (+120 institutions in +40 countries) to promote more sustainable futures. By partnering with eminent figures from the worlds of arts, entertainment, sports, and culture, we aim to bridge the gap between scientific knowledge, public awareness and the urgent need of paradigm change in all water uses.
Our Ambassadors are more than just representatives; they are advocates who use their influence to promote peace and harmonious coexistence between humanity and water, fostering the preservation of our planet’s most precious resource.

Can you imagine a world without water?

A Mission for Global Change

The commitment of WAMU+NET’s Water Ambassadors extends beyond awareness.
Their core mission is to foster the creation of new educational programs across the globe and new water-related museums and interpretive centres.
The activities of our Ambassadors, in their respective fields of expertise, aim to:

  • Educate thousands of young people to respect our waters, rivers and aquifers
  • Protect biodiversity and create new freshwater ecosystems, which are the foundation of both human and non-human health
  • Stop pollution of rivers and waste of surface and groundwater
