The central element of the ecomuseum is the traditional water distribution system from the Aïn-Sbâa spring. This system has remained largely unchanged since 1565, the year the village and oasis were founded by Sidi Mhammad Sbâa. Every single day of the year, we irrigate and allocate water shares according to this complex system, which is grounded in mathematical precision and equity.
The primary goal of the ecomuseum is the protection and enhancement of the village's tangible and intangible heritage, the promotion of best practices within the community through awareness-raising activities and scientific and cultural exchanges, including with international partners. This includes the development and safeguarding of traditional irrigation and agronomic heritage, the revitalization and animation of village community life, the promotion of sustainable cultural tourism, and the rediscovery of heritage and history through scientific partnerships with universities and research institutions.
