Water is fundamental and necessary for human beings, and it is essential for plants' and animals’ survival. Thanks to water, wonderful colourful flowers bloom on the green meadows, and all animal species breed and populate the Earth. In the rivers, flowing water tells the story of the planet: it reminds us of the past, it gives us the present, and if we learn to respect and care for it ...it will be our future! Thanks water!

The drawing depicts the importance of dams, the canals which have reached the interior villages and the rivers which bring minerals and life to the crops and the produce. The waters from the rivers truly bring ‘rainbows’ to the farms and people’s lives.

Description: There I sit above the stream where my childhood memories breathe. So eager to float my paper boat. The joy in my eyes would reflect in the cold water, I'd watch my boat float away with the fast current of the stream. Filled with the simple happiness of knowing that my boat is not sinking. But now, my boat is being pulled down by the polluted waters. Sinking slowly, it is suffocating. My boat is sinking. My boat is stuck. My hope is stuck.

Description: The Casalecchio Dam is a barrier built along the course of the Reno River which allows part of its flow to be diverted into an artificial waterway: the Reno Canal. This canal from Casalecchio reaches Bologna, bringing water into the heart of a city that otherwise, being without a large river crossing it, would not have had a sufficient supply of water for its development. The Casalecchio Dam located on west Bologna is not the only one in Bologna’s territory: on east Bologna, in San Ruffillo, another artificial barrier was built on the Savena Stream from which the canal of the same name is derived. The network of canals that crosses Bologna is therefore made up of these two main waterways: the Reno and the Savena Canals which have a series of secondary branches. This network derived from the two dams is managed by Canali di Bologna.

It could be used also for storing small quantities of personal care products, etc. It has a rich colorful glazed decoration and bears a signature on the bottom. It is typical of the Maghreb region (see Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria).

Description: Traditional four-handled ceramic jar from the island of Chios (Greece) of the 20th century and before the 2nd World War manufactured in the well-known pottery centre of the island named “Armolia”. It is decorated with the characteristic green and white glazes on the lid, the mouth as well on the side. It bears a lid. Ιt was used as a container for small quantities of mastic (mastic jar), the famous product of the island of Chios.
